Located on buzzing North Street in Bedminster, The Spotted Cow is a contemporary pub with a welcoming vibe, whether you’re starting the weekend, indulging in a Sunday roast or nipping in for a pint. There’s a brilliantly-stocked bar, regular DJs and a fantastic walled garden for the (hopefully!) balmy evenings ahead.
Based on good quality British classics, the menu changes regularly, using local produce as far as possible: there are hand-made organic sausages and various pies, served with rich gravy and a choice of three types of mash; crab & seabass fishcakes with potatoes, salad & lemon mayonnaise; or what about rib eye steak with confit shallots and hand-cut chips?
There are also daily specials to choose from, with classics such as line-caught cod and chips with mushy peas, whole roasted poussin with roasted new potatoes or crown of lamb with sherry vinegar sauce. Greedier eaters will no doubt want to tuck into puddings such as bitter chocolate torte or old favourites such as bread and butter pudding.
Or you can pick at the popular charcuterie plate, overlapping with cured meats, seasonal leaves, shavings of parmesan and olives. And there’s a great cheese board, with cheeses supplied by the award-winning Lye Cross Farm in Somerset.
